The crimson Guinevere Cardigan. Knitted in a fine gauge 100% lambswool in Spain the cardigan is an open jewellery box, playing with scale and shapes to create a visual abstract composition of idiosyncratic brooch styles and trends.
The Guinevere Cardigan is maximalist, adorned with a selection of vintage brooches. Brooches originally go back the Bronze Age, where at the time there were no such things as button holes, zips or fastenings, so to hold fabrics together brooches were used. They first began as a functional item, often made from simple, found materials such as thorns, flint and base metals. Over time they became more ornamental, the sister to the later invented safety pin but with an added touch of flair.
